Margaret Seid is a director from Arizona and a 2025 MFA graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, where she was one of 12 students selected to write and direct a thesis film out of nearly 100 applicants.
Her work spans scripted and documentary formats, grounded in identity, intimacy, and the quiet strength of flawed characters. Her films have screened at Beverly Hills, Dumbo, and the Arizona International Film Festival, and have earned over 145,000 views on YouTube. In 2023, she was named a Semi-Finalist for the Chimaera Project’s TO.GET.HER Finishing Funds.
At USC, Margaret collaborated closely with acclaimed filmmakers and producers. In 2024, she worked on Disney+’s Beatles '64 under Martin Scorsese’s producers and assisted Daniel Noah as his film Rabbit Trap premiered at Sundance. The previous year, she supported DGA Award-winning director Katy Garretson, deepening her understanding of television directing.
Margaret began her filmmaking journey during a pandemic-era internship at Jason Bateman’s Aggregate Films, where she gained hands-on development experience in fiction and nonfiction. This fall, she steps behind the camera again to direct a bold proof of concept written by a USC alum, continuing to refine her emotionally charged, visually distinct storytelling voice.
