Short Film
Keel
Tired of being set up, Keel focuses on her summer job at a burger joint, until one final date changes everything.
As a filmmaker, I’m drawn to intimate, character-driven stories that spotlight the emotional interiority of young women. With Keel, I wanted to explore a coming-of-age experience that feels both personal and universal, one rooted in the past but emotionally timeless.
Inspired by the true story of how my parents first met in May of 1977, Keel follows a young woman standing at a quiet crossroads in her life. The choices she faces and the feelings she wrestles with, desire, uncertainty, self-doubt, are as relevant now as they were then.
Through this film, I aim to capture that tender moment when a girl begins to understand herself not just in relation to others, but on her own terms. In doing so, I hope to reflect the resilience, vulnerability, and quiet power of women navigating their own emotional awakenings.
